We run a number of social groups within communities throughout Perth and Kinross. Groups are supported by staff and volunteers. You can take part in activities, find out about your local community and meet a great bunch of people.

 

Activities

We have lots of events planned during March and April. Some will be held at the Sensory Hub and others are within the community. We are keen to hear from you – what activities would you like us to look at offering? Please ensure you book onto activities where it does advise booking as places are limited.

March:

Mindfulness Group (New 6 Week Block):

Start Date: Friday 20th March
Time: 10:00am – 11:30am

Details: A short course to help you understand why we feel as we do and notice unhelpful thoughts. The course is based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and supports people with anxiety, low mood, racing thoughts, and general life stress by learning to accept thoughts and feelings while taking positive, meaningful action in a safe and supportive environment.

Live Music Session (Performer: John Davison):
Date: Tuesday 31st March
Time: 1.15 – 2.30pm

Details: John plays a variety of folk tunes from around Scotland, country music, and old favourites.

April:

Swimming / Aqua Fit Group (New Block)

Location: Perth Leisure Pool: A new swimming block begins on Tuesday 21st April and continues weekly. Please call VisionPK to book your space. There is a charge per session.

Date & Time: Starts Tuesday 21st April: 11:00am – 12:00pm

The following activities all take place in our sensory hub at 17 – 19 George Street, Perth, PH1 5JY. Please contact VisionPK to book your space.

 Drumtastic: Unique drumming sessions that are accessible for all. Great for rhythm, movement and fun in a relaxed and welcoming group environment.

Date & Time: Wednesday 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th April:

1.15pm – 2.45pm.

Mindspace – Taking Control Course (Final Sessions)

The final two sessions of the Taking Control course, which helps participants understand thoughts and emotions, notice unhelpful thinking patterns, and learn practical strategies based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in a supportive group setting.

Date & Time: Friday 10th and 17th April: 10:00am – 11:30am

Please note there will be no session on Friday 3rd April due to Good Friday.

Social Group with Guest Speaker – The Railways:

Join us for our regular social group and guest speaker session exploring the history and stories of the railways.

Date & Time: Tuesday 14th April: 1.15pm – 2.30pm

Lip Reading Group

We held a successful lip-reading taster session in November and we will be running two 10-week blocks in 2026. These sessions will help you to develop lip-reading skills and gain confidence in conversation.

Second Block: April 23rd to June 25th Thursdays from 10am – 12 Noon

Blairgowrie

In Blairgowrie we have a group which has been running for years thanks to the commitment of a wonderful team of volunteers.

Our Blairgowrie group is open to anyone in the community who has sight loss. The volunteer team put together a programme of activities and deliver sessions once a month.

The group has occasional guest speakers, do quizzes, chair exercise and have outings to places of interest or to have lunch as a group.

The group meets every 3rd Thursday of the month at 10.30am to 12noon, in Blairgowrie Parish Church Hall, James Street, PH10 6EZ.
