Groups & Activities

We run a number of social groups within communities throughout Perth and Kinross. Groups are supported by staff and volunteers. You can take part in activities, find out about your local community and meet a great bunch of people.

Activities

We have lots of events planned during November. Some will be held at the Sensory Hub and others are within the community. We are keen to hear from you – what activities would you like us to look at offering? Please ensure you book onto activities where it does advise booking as places are limited.

Lip Reading Group Taster Session

November 20th at 10.30am to 11.30am – VisionPK sensory hub, George Street, Perth

Join us for a taster session of a new Lip-Reading Group. Peter Kesterton is a qualified local lip-reading tutor who will be running regular sessions with VisionPK in the New Year. If you would like to develop lip-reading skills, gain confidence in conversation, learn about hearing loss and meet others who may have similar experiences to you please come along!

Swimming Group:

Dates: Tuesdays Time: 11.00am-12.00pm

Location: Perth Leisure Pool

Accessible swimming for all levels. Join us for steady lengths or confidence building in the water. Please book onto these sessions by calling VisionPK – there is a charge for the swimming, please contact us for more information.

Live Music Performance (Derek Richardson)

Date: Wednesday 26^th November Time: 1.15-2.30pm

Location: VisionPK, 17-19 George Street

Details: Derek will be returning with a wide selection of instruments for us all to enjoy. He plays pipes, whistle, guitar and mandolin, among others. Come along and enjoy some live music.

NHS Tayside volunteer-led hearing aid drop-in clinic @VisionPK Sensory Hub: Wednesday  3 December, 10:00am – 12:00pm

Blairgowrie

In Blairgowrie we have a group which has been running for years thanks to the commitment of a wonderful team of volunteers.

Our Blairgowrie group is open to anyone in the community who has sight loss. The volunteer team put together a programme of activities and deliver sessions once a month.

The group has occasional guest speakers, do quizzes, chair exercise and have outings to places of interest or to have lunch as a group.

The group meets every 3rd Thursday of the month at 10.30am to 12noon, in Blairgowrie Parish Church Hall, James Street, PH10 6EZ.
